You’ve heard the old saying “if you don’t use it, you’ll lose it.” Well when it comes to your hair it's true. While washing, styling, heating and dying can cause damage to your hair so can neglect. While you might think that your hair is better off without brushing it daily, think again.

Combing and brushing your hair will massage your scalp which will stimulate your hair follicles. As you get older your body produces less keratin, a fiber that provides structural proteins throughout your hair. With this in mind you should be paying more attention as to how you can reproduce those structural fibers so your hair does not break.

Some common ways to increase the structural integrity of your hair are through vitamins. Look into the following to figure out which is the best fit for you and your hair.

  1. Coenzyme (Q10): This enzyme is actually not a protein itself. Rather it acts as a catalyst in order to bind proteins together to create a stronger substance.
  2. Biotin:  This is a vitamin that is commonly used to aid with hair loss and brittle nails.
  3. Collagen: This is a main structural protein that can help with your whole body; ranging from hair, skin and nails. This usually comes in a simple powder that is tasteless and odorless or a pill.

These can also be found in the in shampoos and conditioners. Hair care with these vitamins and enzymes will help your hair with every wash. It will also allow your hair to not be stripped with every shower.

In order to naturally grow longer and healthier hair, this WON’T happen overnight, it is a long road to hair recovery. However if you comb your hair gentilly everyday (not so harsh as to the point where you are consistently ripping out your hair), it will help with scalp stimulation.
